MetaSearch is another background Imindi function that enables you to use any thought as query to all the major search engines. When you search for a term in Imindi Explore, the engine will display text, image, video, tag, and blog results from multiple sources in the resource box below the main viewscreen to help you think of new thoughts to add to your Discussion.

Of course, you can search IMINDI too with the Explore button, which helps you to expand your thinking in directions that you might never have taken on your own. This is achieved by exploring the thoughts of other IMINDI users and connecting your thoughts to their thoughts in various ways.

From the upper right Explore text box you will be taken to a "Thoughts Found" page. On this page you will see all of the Discussions where that term was found.

There are three different types of results for the Thoughts Found page: All IMINDI, My IMINDI, and Mindex. The default is "All IMINDI" which shows you all public Discussions that include your search thought. By selecting "My IMINDI" you will be shown Discussions including your search term from your Discussions only. Below these search types the Metasearch results will be shown in the resource box below the main screen. But choosing "Mindex" will show you instead all of the individual thoughts from all of the public Discussions that have been linked to your search term overlayed together.

The Mindex is a powerful combined look at all the ways that other people have linked your search term to other thoughts. Click on any branch thought to center that term in the Mindex view.

Finally, within any Discussion you can perform an Imindi Search by following the link in the resource box below the main viewscreen. Imindi Search allows you to use the thoughts or nodes in that Discussion as query to the major search engines. The central term will become the default search term, but you can add any other thought from the Discussion by clicking on the + sign next to it. This puts that term in the query line. Click the - sign beside the word to remove it again. Once you have the combination of terms you feel is most appropriate for your search, choose one of the search engine links below the thought field to engage the search.
